When you type 'gquota' (without the quotes), you will arrive at a page that looks much like the one below. While viewing this page, press 'p' for Print, give the file an easy name like 'quota' and press [ENTER]. This will save a copy of this page in your files directory. Now go into PINE (gmail) and 'c'ompose a letter to Userhelp. Use ^r to read the file into your email. The system will prompt you for a name. Enter 'quota' (without the quotes) and press [ENTER]. Send this report to Userhelp so that we may be able to see what your problem is. If you unable to save anything due to the overquota problem, then notify Userhelp and we will request TechTeam intervention to get the problem under control. On occasion, the problem will stem from a 'hidden file'. Userhelp will then ask the TechTeam to check your account configuration for any large 'hidden' files. The TechTeam will proceed to remove any 'hidden' files which shouldn't be in your account. Files somehow are hidden if there is a system error in the process of file transferring. The file will be saved but not entered into your directory listing, so it will affect your quota but you won't see the actual file. This is a rare occurance but does happen sometimes. Below is the beginning quota reading for a account with the bare minimum in it. The numbers 37 and 28 are the hidden system files which are necessary for the operation of your account. Your numbers may differ slightly. Disk quotas for xxxxx (uid xxxxx): Filesystem usage quota limit timeleft files quota limit timeleft /var/spool/mail 0 500 1000 1 200 400 /ccn/home 37 500 1000 28 200 400 You must RELOAD this page to get current values (use control-R).
